Hydrofera, LLC began operations in October, 1997 as a division of Tolland Development Company, LLC (TDC) to exploit the opportunities created through the development of its proprietary Polyvinyl Alcohol Foam Technology. Although first developed in the 1940's in both the United States and Japan, PVA foam had established a solid reputation for industrial use filtration in Japan and as a gauze substitute for medical use in ENT and Ophthalmic surgical procedures. The industrial foam was known for its finite pore size, while the medical foam for its strength and cleanliness. Through an experimental breakthrough, TDC was able to develop PVA foam, which coupled the pore size advantages of the industrial foam, with the strength and cleanliness of the medical foam. TDC then formed two companies, Hydrofera, LLC for medical applications, and Hydrofera Micron Technology, LLC for applications in the semiconductor markets. Today, both companies are on the leading edge of PVA foam development, with Hydrofera leading the way with its award winning Hydrofera Blue bacteriostatic wound dressings, and HMT with its revolutionary through core CMP brushes for semiconductor wafer cleaning. Hydrofera, LLC provides product for use in Wound Care, Surgical Specialties, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, and Diagnostics. Our strategic partners include Hollister, Zimmer, Agilent Technology, Boston Scientific, Invotec International, Gyrus, Miltex, DeRoyal, PHS, Cardinal, and Synergy Ltd..
